The Largest OJT Program at FPT Japan Academy Has Begun

The opening ceremony for the fall OJT program, attended by 103 students from FPT University, took place on the morning of September 6. This is one of the training activities organized by FPT Japan Academy (FJA) in collaboration with FPT University. As they begin their journey of exploration and study in Japan, students are welcomed by teachers and special guests, including representatives from FPT Japan (FJP).

Nguyen Huu Long, Director of FCJ, shared that many years ago, he was just like the students present. As an international student with limited Japanese proficiency, he spent an entire year just learning the language before starting university. Throughout this process, he diligently observed Japanese people and engaged in conversations to understand their thoughts and behaviors. Today, he serves as the Director of FPT Consulting (FCJ), overseeing nearly 600 Japanese employees.

From his personal experience, Long shared two key secrets to his success. The first is to focus on short-term goals. He advised students to break down their objectives into smaller, manageable stages, monthly, weekly, and even daily, to strive and persevere. He believes that relying on a long time frame can dull one’s efforts, and that long-term goals may change along the way.

His second piece of advice is to avoid confining oneself to a small community. Instead, he encouraged students to immerse themselves in a larger community, interact with foreigners, and give themselves the opportunity to embrace new experiences in work and relationships. Long also recounted the early days of FPT’s global expansion to help students understand the spirit of innovation and boldness.

“You are still young, and the future is wide open. Make the most of these three months to justify the time and investment made in this program,” Long advised.

Following Long’s remarks, Phạm Thị Thanh Hoa, COO of FJP, provided students with a guiding principle for achieving positive results during their OJT, summarized by the 5T principle: Adaptability – Focus – Interaction – Compliance – Experience. This encapsulates the essential aspects students should embrace when stepping into a new and fascinating land like Japan.

Earlier, Principal Kuroda Hideo also congratulated the 103 FPT students. He emphasized three key points to help them quickly integrate and enjoy their time studying at the academy: proactively speak Japanese with native speakers, observe Japanese customs, and experience the culture and architecture to understand the sentiments and hearts of the locals.

From September to November, Japan enters the cool autumn season, the most beautiful time of the year for students to study comfortably. Hideo hopes that on October 3, during Japan’s Cultural Sports Day, the 103 FPT students will participate and engage in many enjoyable activities.

FPT student Lưu Phi Long shared, “I can’t quite imagine what the next few months will be like, but I believe that after three months, my Japanese will improve, and I want to learn more about FJP and Japan.”
